Traditional Obedience

Here's some pics that were taken at an Obedience Trial. This is Vicki and Mojo.

Rally Obedience

Rally Obedience is a newer sport which the dog and handler must complete a course designed by a Rally Judge. Some say that it is Obedience set up in an Agility setting, where you have a course that you must complete from Start to Finish. When entering the course, the Judge tells the handler when to begin, then you are on your way. The dog and handler will then proceed through the course at their own pace. There can be 10-20 different stations, each having a sign with an Obedience function that they must perform. The judge also times each run, but the time only serves one purpose, and that is to break up a tie. Other than that, the time is not used. Scoring in Rally is not as rigorous as Traditional Obedience. Through the course, you are also allowed to talk to your dog, root the dog on, and praise. But no touching or luring with treats, etc. No food allowed in the ring. So this makes this sport a lot of fun, as it's meant to be fun for both the handler as well as the dog.
