2011 Brags

Note to all of us from Chuck: Remember that as our Club continues to grow and diversify, not everyone knows or understands all the events and/or breeds of dogs we are involved in, so when you post your brags, PLEASE try to remember to provide complete information. It helps to inform and educate those who aren't familiar with all the abbreviations we use.

Elvis
Chuck St. John
Kolumbia's Rock N Roll Legend, aka Elvis, finished the 2011 show season as the #6 Tibetan Spaniel in the all-breed standings in the U.S. and #13 in the breed standings. He is only 2.5 years old and fron the first litter that Chuck whelped.

Lynne Wasson proudly reports that Trip earned both his Novice Standard and Novice Jumpers titles in the last month.

December 11: Chuck St. John and Elvis (Tibetan Spaniel) earned Best of Breed and Group 3 at Vancouver, WA. With these wins Elvis is currently the #12 Tibetan Spaniel in breed points and #6 in all-breed points.

December 11: Willard Field and Buzzy (Papillon) finished his Master Excellent Jumpers with Weaves Preferred title (MJP) at Auburn.

December 10: Vicky Anderson and Libby, GCH Starway Fyreti Legend Keeper (Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever) finished her Bronze level in Vancouver. With 2 BOS wins for 4 points each. Ginger, Tsillian’s Keep’er Happy (7 month old Toller) went RWB to a 3 pt. major on Saturday and WB, BOW, for a 3 pt. major on Sunday, resulting in her first points. She had 6 BOB from Arizona and a puppy group 2.

November 19 and 20: Barb Steward and Timothy (Tibetan Spaniel) are reporting on Timothy's first show weekend, the Minneapolis Kennel Club show at Canterbury Park, Shakopee, MN. He was the only class dog entered both days, but he went Best of Winners both days, so he came home with his first two points at just 6 months of age! He gaited beautifully and stacked pretty well on the table, although he's still VERY wiggly stacking on the floor. He behaved beautifully with the other dogs and while crated in our set-up. He was delighted to find other Tibbies at ringside and wanted to play with them all. Timothy is Barb's first home-bred Tibbie and was sired by Chuck St. John's Borg.

November 5: Hannah Virnig and Rainey (Australian Shepherd), AKC Ch. Supreme's Here Comes the Reign went WB/BOW/BOB over specials for an ASCA 5 pt. major. November 6: Hannah finished Shway's (Australian Shepherd), ASCA Championship. So his name is now ASCA Ch. Goldcrest Let's Go Surfin' Now.

Vicky Anderson - GCH Starway Legendkeeper completed her Bronze level requirements with two BOS, with two four point majors. Tsillan's Keep'er Happy (Ginger) took RWB on Sat, and WB and BOW on Sun. with three point major. She is seven months old. She is out of CH Starway Copbon Gatekeeper RN (our boy) and Int. CH Tollwest's Happy Dance RN.

Willard Fields: Cadget's All A-Buzz at Evergem (Papillion) finished his Master Excellent Jumpers with Weaves Preferred title (MJP) at Auburn on Dec. 11, 2011.

Maggy Susman and Dale Huber: Zelda! of Blewett, CDX, RE, TD has earned her AKC Therapy Dog Title in August, the first WKC dog to do so. She has also earned a TDIA (Therapy Dog International Active) award from the Therapy Dog International Association. Zelda! had been visiting for 2 years. Zelda! was originally tested and certified by Margie Clark, who is a Therapy Dog International evaluator. Zelda! turned 13 in September, 2011.

Betsy Metcalf and Sundew (Rhodesian Ridgeback) Q'd in Exc JWW for second place and a lovely trophy in September. Rhodesian Ridgeback National Specialty, Rapid City, South Dakota

Suzanne Metcalf and Dansi (Rhodesian Ridgeback) Q'd in Rally Advanced for a new title = RA. Dansi also made the first cut in best of breed and won the best ridge for a bitch, plus best overall ridge in September. Rhodesian Ridgeback National Specialty, Rapid City, South Dakota (813 entries!)

Carol Sunada and Fircrest Princess Tara (German Shepherd) earned two Agility Titles on Saturday, September 24 at Monroe: Novice Preferred Jumpers with Weaves with 1st place; and Novice Preferred Standard with 1st place. Tara just turned 10 years old and is moving like she owns the Agility Course – Carol is very proud of her.

Ashley Burger and "Captain" Zahara Captain Kidd (Australian Shepherd) took Best Adult in Match at the Wenatchee Kennel Club dog show September 17. He then took Winners Dog for his first point on September 18. Captain is co-owned by Ashley and Sarah Burger.

Robin Boles and Kolumbia's Little Miss Minnie "Minnie" got her first point with Winner's bitch at the Wenatchee Kennel Club dog show on Sunday.

Vicky Anderson and Rocky Starway Keeper of the Stars (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) finished his AKC Championship Saturday with a three point major at the Wenatchee Kennel Club dog show. Although I offered to move him up on Sunday to let other males have a chance at a major, my offer was declined, and he earned an additional three point major. Rocky, pending AKC notification, is CH Starway Keeper of the Stars.

Vicky Anderson and GCH Starway Fyreti Legend Keeper (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), took Select Bitch both days at the Wenatchee Kennel Club dog show.

Vicky Anderson and Sofie, Skylark Tsillan Peace Keeper (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), earned ribbons each day of the Wenatchee Kennel Club dog show.

Jan Flatten and Cody (Australian Shepherd) Q'd in Novice Preferred JWW and Standard, earning first and second place, respectively, on Friday at the Wenatchee Kennel Club Trail.

Ernie and Vicki Hobbs
Mojo passed both a Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent course at the Enumclaw show, earning the 10th and final leg for his RAE1 Title. To earn this title means he has passed 20 courses. I believe this is our clubs first RAE1 Title.

Mojo
MOJO (Bichon) Vickie & Ernie Hobbs
Mojo earned one RAE leg at the Spokane Kennel Club show in May and earned two RAE legs in Puyallup, one at the Bichon Specialty and one at the Puyallup Kennel Club show. We now have 9 of the 10 legs needed for an RAE1 Title.

Back in March, I flew back to Davenport, Iowa to take a look at 2 Papillon puppies that were being held for me to decide between. It was a VERY difficult choice, but according to AKC Judge June Penta, I made a great choice.

The first day of the Spokane Dog Show on May 28th, Zelicaon Little Egyptian To Cadgets (aka Lena) went Winners Bitch from the 6-9 puppy class. On the 31st of May in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, she went Reserve.

On Saturday, June 4th, in Yakima, under Judge James Frederiksen, Lena earned another Winners award - again from the 6-9 puppy class.

On Saturday, June 11th, Judge Richard Camacho pulled Lena for Best Opposite Sex (over a Special), Best Of Winners, and Best Puppy in Breed for her first major.  We are truly delighted with this beautiful girl!

Since AKC has come out with the Grand Champion award, we decided to put CH Cadgets Way To Go-West (aka Kip) back in the ring at the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene shows. 3 out of the 4 days Kip went Select Dog, and the one day he didn't - he went Best Of Breed!!!!  What a great month it's been for Cadgets!!!

Kip BOB

Lena's First Points

5/28/11-5/29/11
Linda Harbury
ChenaMarie
ChenaMarie: 1 Q, 2nd Places and her Title in Novice Jumpers; 2 Q's, 2nd Places in Novice Regular; 1 Q, 1st Place Novice Touch & Go. And Linda's new knee did just fine! NADAC Agility - Megadogs at Woodinville, WA.

Linda and Emily Harbury had a GREAT time at the Mega-Dogs NADAC Trial in Woodinville, Washington on Memorial Day Weekend. Lots of Q's and even a new title for ChenaMarie. This was our first "mother/daughter" agility weekend and we can hardly wait to do it again! Emily's adolescent dog, Olive, made her agility debut - and enthusiastically earned ribbons and q's.

North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) trials are similar to AKC trials with a few key differences. NADAC's mission statement includes a high concern for safety, to that effort:

To enter a NADAC trial - register your dog (any breed or combination of breeds) at NADAC.com for $15.00. You'll get your registration number as soon as you press the send button. Then find your trial and please let me or Emily know so we can have the fun of trialing with our Wenatchee Kennel Club friends!
